ConvergEx Receives American Financial Technology Award for Real-Time Risk Application
New York, NY – December 8, 2009 – ConvergEx, a premier provider of investment and execution technology solutions to institutional clients worldwide, today announced that it has been honored with an American Financial Technology Award (AFTA) for “Best Risk Analytics Initiative.” Hosted by Waters magazine, Dealing with Technology and Buy-Side Technology, the AFTAs recognizes industry excellence in the deployment and management of financial IT. The Best Risk Analytics Initiative award is given to the financial institution that has derived the greatest benefit from its risk analytic platform and demonstrated the use of new techniques for identifying and mitigating risks.
ConvergEx was recognized for its real-time risk monitoring of its entire U.S. trading operations, which incorporates StreamBase Systems, Inc.’s complex event processing (CEP) software. The ConvergEx system uniquely monitors and detects patterns across multiple electronic trading venues. It correlates and understands risk profiles, alerts trading operations staff of potential issues and proactively adjusts routing decisions based on market conditions, all in real time.
“We are pleased to see that our commitment to innovation on behalf of our clients has been recognized by these market leading publications,” said Joseph Weisbord, a managing director at ConvergEx Group. “Our real-time risk monitoring allows us to manage all types of risk within our entire U.S. trading operations, and act to mitigate that risk. We constantly strive for excellence and are proud to receive this coveted award on behalf of our outstanding engineering team and our partners at StreamBase.”
“Real-time risk is becoming an essential element of modern trading infrastructure,” said Richard Tibbetts, chief technology officer for StreamBase. “Previous generations of risk management systems assessed risk at the end of the day; StreamBase allows risk to be assessed on a real-time basis, and more importantly, affords firms the opportunity to modify trading behavior before the chance to mitigate the risk has passed.”
